Located in Lincolnville, Maine—just five miles from Camden, Cellardoor is a sixty-eight acre property with a rich history and majestic views to Levenseller Mountain. Purchased in 2007 by Bettina Doulton, the Winery is a 200-year old post and beam barn that was respectfully restored, preserving the original barn boards, and the sense of history. The operation expanded and facilities were upgraded to bring a true winery experience to the Midcoast of Maine. Cellardoor also owns and operates The Villa at the intersection of Routes 90 and 1 in Rockport.

Cellardoor’s wines are made in small, handcrafted batches with grapes sourced from premier vineyards across the country and from local Maine blueberries.

Since first replanting in 2008, the winery’s five-and-a-half-acre vineyard has reached maturity where it is able to produce crop loads that are sustainable for wine production. It has been replanted with cold, hearty hybrids developed to withstand the harsher climate of Maine. In September of 2012 they used their first harvest of grapes from the vineyard for future estate-grown releases. Cellardoor also continues to source grapes from Washington, California, and New York, to give their winemakers what they need to craft a wide range of wines for every taste.

Established over half a century ago, Relais & Châteaux is an association of the world’s finest hoteliers, chefs and restaurateurs that has set the standard for excellence in hospitality. Relais & Châteaux has redefined luxury hospitality by emphasizing holistic experiences that transport its guests, taking them on a sensual journey and introducing them to a deeper, truer understanding of the Art of Living.

The story of Relais & Châteaux begins in 1941 when two former music hall entertainers, Marcel and Nelly Tilloy purchased “La Cardinale”, an estate in the Rhône Valley. In 1952 the Tilloys began recruiting other hoteliers and restaurant owners that shared the same level of quality and excellence and passions for fine cuisine and Art de Vivre. In 1954, this group of kindred spirits merged together to create Relais & Châteaux. In the beginning, there were only eight establishments along the road between Paris and the French Riviera. Today, there are more than 520 members that are a part of Relais & Châteaux.
