Chef John Kolesar

Executive Chef, Seasons at Ocean House

Cooking for you at The Relais & Chateaux Gala and Harvest Party—NOLA.

Executive Chef, John Kolesar joined Ocean House in 2010, bringing with him more than 10 years of experience at world-class restaurants and catering companies. His eclectic variety of culinary endeavors range from food preparation for a 1,200-seat theater, Executive Catering Chef at Amalfi and even a brief stint as a Beverage Manager.

Growing up in coastal Connecticut, Chef John developed a deep appreciation for cuisine at a young age. It only seemed natural to further explore his interest in culinary arts at neighboring Johnson & Wales University where he refined his skills and fell head-over-heels with the business of the kitchen.

Chef John’s New England roots inspire an unmistakable sense of place reflected in the farm-to-table cuisine for which Ocean House is known. Fresh, locally grown ingredients and long standing relationships with the area’s farmers play a leading role in the development of Chef John’s ever-changing, seasonally inspired menu. A fusion of Portuguese, Mediterranean and classic Atlantic Northeast flavors create unforgettable dining experiences at all five fine and casual dining outlets at the resort.

Ocean House, Watch Hill, Rhode Island

Ocean House, one of New England’s last grand hotels, re-opened its doors in June 2010 after a $140 million rebuild and restoration. The 136-year-old property, originally built just after the Civil War, is perched high on the bluffs in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Guests enjoy views of the Atlantic Ocean, Montauk and Block Island from the resort’s 49 guestrooms and 16 signature suites. Farm-to-table, casual and fine dining restaurants, the 12,000- square-foot OH! Spa and more than 10,000 square feet of event space make the Ocean House ideal for mid-week business retreats, close-to-home family vacations, weekend luxury escapes and destination weddings. This stately property is the only AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star rated resort in Rhode Island, and only one of 10 hotels in the world to garner three Forbes Five-Star designations for hotel, spa and fine dining at a single property.
